Notes on appearances/powers
Due to Black Hat being hit by humanization upon arriving at Ryslig, he doesn't resemble his charcoal-skinned malevolent self. Rather, he looks quite a bit like Peter Cushing. This likely won't last too long, but it's notable enough for now.
MAY 2019
The first set of changes Black Hat underwent made him look like his canon appearance again.
JUNE 2019
Black Hat spent 20 coins for a Mana reward to remove his demonic ears and swap back to his internal ones. He hated how the tips rubbed against the brim. He does have horns as well, but as Black Hat does not remove his hat in any circumstance where others can see, they're completely hidden.
He's reached his full physical change.

After the hydra invasion, Black Hat's wings have noticeable tattering at the edge of the membranes; small tears and holes that did not heal in the fog

Black Hat purchased an upgrade to his possession power that allows him to remotely possess any image of himself, so long as it remains within the one hour time limit. Image quality may vary, and so will his experience in possessing them!

During the monster swap event in 2020, Black Hat turned into a Naga!
Changes:
- all mandatory changes listed
- normal form's tail is thirty feet long, predominantly black scales with brilliant red siding and light underbelly scutes
- a fog form (approaching sixty feet in length, a giant snake reminiscent of the feathered serpents of Central American lore except flightless)
- psychological changes: a need to have snakey company to properly 'brumate' (sleep), a desire for warm basking spots and hides, tendency to tongue flick, prey drive towards small rodent-like creatures and smaller snakes
- smells by 'tasting' the air
- ability to change into a large snake
- ability to petrify humans with a stare
- scales up his back, formed in a slight hat-shaped pattern
- eye caps: he doesn't need to blink, but can for emphasis while in his base form
